Nadhani wengi wetu tunaifahamu gypsum powder.

Somo hili litaendelea.............

Outdoor Lighting Tips and Advice

Outdoor lighting enhances the beauty of your property, makes your home safer and more secure, and increases the number of pleasurable hours you spend outdoors. And it is an investment that pays off handsomely in the value it adds to your home.

For added security, illuminate any side of the house that would otherwise be in shadow. To conserve energy, install a motion or heat-sensitive control that will switch on the light only if someone approaches that side of the house. An automatic timer can control a portion of your outdoor lights to turn off at a certain hour, while basic security lights can be left on through the night. Another proven safety measure is to use timers on interior lights to make your home look occupied when you’re away.

Dark-Sky Friendly Lighting Tip – In order to prevent unwanted glare from your outdoor lighting, use bulbs with reasonable illumination levels. You may also use full cut-off fixtures to direct the light down towards the ground, where it is needed, rather than being cast to the side or up towards the sky, where it is wasted.

Entrance – A well-lit front entrance enables you to greet guests and identify visitors. Wall lanterns on each side of the door will give your home a warm, welcoming look, while assuring the safety of those who enter.

Under a porch or other overhang, you can use recessed, chain-hung or close-to-ceiling fixtures. A separate rear or side entrance can be lighted with a single wall lantern installed on the keyhole side of the door.

Garage – For the safety and security of family members using the garage at night, you can install a wall fixture above or to either side of the garage doors. Motion detectors light up obscure spots when someone passes by. In addition, photocells are available that will turn fixtures on at dusk and off at dawn, reducing energy consumption and providing security when you’re away from home.

Security – For added security, illuminate any side of the house that would otherwise be in shadow. Spotlights installed on your eaves will accomplish this, or, for a more dramatic look, consider ground lights pointed up to graze your walls.

To conserve energy, install a sensor that will switch on the light only at night or upon motion. If using uplighting, aim the fixtures so that the light is captured by your eaves to lessen light pollution.

Steps, Paths and Driveways – Steps, paths, and driveways should be illuminated to make sure family members and guests are able to move about easily and safely after dark. You can install path lights or post lanterns or attach lights to the side of the house.

Low-level path lights, which spread circular patterns of light, will brighten your walkway while highlighting nearby flower beds, shrubs and ground cover. Low-level path lights can also be used to define the boundaries of long driveways.

Bollards, which stand 30 to 36 inches off the ground, also work well. Use shielded fixtures to avoid glare.

Decks and Porches – Decks, porches, and patios can be converted into romantic evening retreats by concealing low-voltage mini-lights under steps, railing or benches. Another idea is to install a spotlight in the branches of a nearby tree.

pools and Fountains
Pools and fountains illuminated with underwater lighting provide beauty and safety for evening entertaining or swimming.

Low-voltage and LED lighting are popular sources for ambient pool lighting, or install fiber-optic lighting to create a starry background in your pool’s floor and around its edges. Floating and solar-powered lights are also available.

Be sure to check with your local building authorities for safety regulations before installing new lighting systems in existing pools.

Bathroom renovation tips

Consider some important points before updating the look of your bathroom.

An effective bathroom design should address all your needs, physical and spiritual. Here are the most important tips to consider when considering bathroom renovations.

1 Choose elegant fixtures.
A pedestal sink with graceful lines is more attractive than a blocky cabinet vanity. A classic claw-foot tub is like bathroom sculpture. Even enclosed in a deck, the simple lines of the lip have an inherent beauty that surpasses most acrylic versions.

2 Sit in a bathtub before buying it.
Bigger isn't always better. A 60-inch tub is fine for most people. It offers enough room to stretch out and provides a secure foothold, so you don't float into oblivion when the tub is full. Assess the angled back and lip for comfort and neck support –- a tub for two people slants at either end and has taps in the middle. If you only have enough space for a small tub, buy an extra-deep one.

3 Select durable flooring.
Ceramic, marble and stone tiles are all excellent durable and water-resistant choices for a bathroom. Subfloor heating coils will make these hard surfaces warm. Well-sealed hardwood floors offer natural warmth and act as a foil for the other hard, cold surfaces in a bathroom.

4 Hang a stylish mirror.
One beautifully framed mirror over a sink is more attractive than many surfaces covered with mirror. Supplement it with a wall-mounted adjustable makeup mirror, and consider installing a lighted, mirrored shaving niche in your shower stall.

5 Use found space.
Take advantage of space between wall studs by recessing a tall storage cabinet into the wall to maximize vertical storage while saving floor space. The cabinet should have an interior depth of at least three inches and a door flush with the wall.

6 Build a shower area.
Consider building an open-concept shower area that doesn't need a curtain or door and is less confining than a standard shower stall. In addition to well-designed drainage, a ceiling-mounted rain showerhead and/or a high wall-mounted showerhead that splashes less water will keep the area outside the shower drier.

7 Share space for added function.
In homes with back-to-back bathrooms, a shared shower with access doors to each of the bathrooms maximizes limited space. Or turn a closet located next to a bathroom into a small ensuite with access to the neighbouring bath.

8 Design lighting that works.
Good lighting is imperative. Combine halogen pot lights with wall sconces beside or over the mirror for lighting with no shadows. Always install dimmers.

9 Buy a quality toilet.
When buying a toilet, it's not necessary for you to spend big bucks, but you don't want to scrimp too much, either. You can get a good-quality one-piece toilet for about $400. Models with elongated bowls and seats are usually most comfortable.

10 Incorporate luxury into your room.
If you're fortunate enough to have lots of space to work with, indulge yourself with an expanded spa-like bathroom that includes a dressing room –- a haven for privacy and relaxation. Outfit it with a television, fireplace, exercise equipment, makeup vanity and even a large comfortable occasional chair upholstered in thick white terry-cloth.

15 secret decor tips

1 Natural colour
Lemons in a bowl add a little zest to a white kitchen inexpensively. And who doesn't love their fresh scent? A stylish dishtowel can soften a granite countertop and pick up the green in the flowering plants lining your windowsill.

2 White out
Nothing beats piles of soft white towels for their luxurious look, especially when you have open shelving in a bathroom. Candles, a blue vase and green- and cream-colour flowers add dashes of pretty to an all-white backdrop.

3 Dishing it out
Don't hide your dishes from view! Instead, make them a great kitchen feature by displaying one colour or style together. Simple dishes in white and soft celadon look fabulous.

4 A group effort
Avoid the cluttered, chaotic look of jam-packed shelves by grouping books and accessories of similar size and shape in mini vignettes.

5 Real lookers
Storing herbs and spices in uniform containers in drawers and cabinets is so easy on the eyes. The look is even cleaner when you use a label maker to denote the contents of tins or little glass jars.

6 Sweet dreams
You can't go wrong with crisp white cotton or linen bedding: it always looks inviting and elegant.

7 All lined up
Keep glass cabinets bright with bold, colourful packaging. Red pop bottles with attractive labels are fun and fresh on a windowsill, too.

8 A case for baskets
An attractive water hyacinth basket does a great job of organizing an assortment of liquor bottles and creates a tidy, smart-looking minibar on a countertop.

9 Two is the number
Balance and symmetry create drama. Place two chairs so that they're framed by tall windows with an awesome view to up a room's wow factor.

10 Book buzz
Remove tattered dust jackets from coffee table books, but save them. When you change your display of current faves, replace the jackets before reshelving the books.

11 A class act
Every savvy stylist's standby, white dishware and linens make food look more appetizing and add timeless class to any tabletop.

12 Nifty nooks
It's easy to make even the smallest nook count. Flowers and a mirror make a space feel bigger are both pretty touches. Shelves hold magazines and baskets to stash the small stuff.

13 A big softie
A throw brings softness to a masculine leather club chair and lends a light, inviting touch to any reading corner.

14 Window works
A windowed nook is perfect for a built-in daybed (with storage underneath). Try cosying things up with a demi-lune table and a mirror that bounces even more light into the room.

15 Table manners
Horizontally placed runners are a sophisticated way to showcase a well-laid table -- they're more elegant than placemats but much less formal than a tablecloth.

nawatakia weekend njema....

Questions you need to ask your self, before buying Fridge, Freezer

With prices,  it is very important to work out how much you want to spend and stick with that figure.

How much space do I have?

Measurements will be given in centimetres - height, width and depth – so it is vital to accurately measure your available space, including ceiling height.
Some models will also need additional space at the back to allow the cooling parts to work properly and you should have at least 2.5cm on each side to ensure air circulation and to allow access for cleaning.
Fridge freezers are commonly available in three widths – 50cm, 55cm and 60cm. If space is not a problem large American style fridge freezers are becoming popular. With the fridge and freezer side by side they offer twice the space and often additional features like ice making and chilled water. But they are large, up to three times the width of a traditional model and taller. You should always consider how the item will fit into your property when it is delivered.
Generally the freezer compartment is found on the bottom of most fridge freezers but there are different layouts and styles.

Many different models are now available giving varying proportions of fridge/freezer space so before you buy think about the types of food that you buy:
  • If you shop regularly for fresh food and only really use the freezer for ice cubes and other odd items you may need a model with a larger fridge area and smaller freezer. If your shopping tends towards lots of ready meals, prepared foods and bulk buying a larger freezer area will suit you better.
  • Knowing the actual capacity of each section will give you an accurate idea of size but look inside. A fridge section will have various areas within it for dairy, chilled food, bottles etc. Some will even have a chilled drinks dispenser and as you might expect, these types of extras tend to come at a higher price. Check these to see if the layout inside is to your liking, or if it can be altered to suit you.
Storage capacity is measured in cubic feet or litres. The smallest fridge freezers can offer around 4 cubic feet of storage (around 120 litres), and can be quite adequate for single people. A total capacity of around 9 to 10 cu ft (around 300 litres) is generally adequate for most families, although much larger sizes of fridge freezers are available providing ample long term storage.
Freezers keep food at –18°C and fast freeze at –26°C. Fast freezing is the optimum freezing temperature for fresh food to retain most of its nutritional value. It is important to keep the freezer temperature constant in order not to increase the energy used.
More expensive fridge freezers models have a thermometer, which will reassure you that your unit is running as it should, and help you set the thermostat to the right level. Most thermometer displays are digital.
Some fridge freezers have a single thermostat, while others have a separate thermostat for the fridge and the freezer. One-control models tend to be cheaper but you can find that when you set the right temperature for the fridge (3°C to 5°C), your freezer is too warm or too cold.
Some dual-control models let you switch off the fridge or freezer independently, which is useful if you're going on holiday or need to defrost.
The "Super cool" option chills the fridge compartment continuously for a set period, usually about six hours. You can turn it on when you put a lot of food into your fridge at once. Big loads take longer to cool but the super-cool setting deals with them more quickly.
The "Fast Freeze" option works in a similar way on the freezer compartment. By freezing more quickly, fast-freeze keeps food fresher. And for many types of food like bread, or cake – it can help stop the texture from changing. Some of the top range models have automatic fast freeze which cuts in if the freezer becomes too warm, and turns off again when food is safely frozen.
Almost all fridges incorporate an internal light, not very exciting but essential.
Most fridge compartments automatically defrost; they usually have a channel around the sides and back to collect the water and a drain hole to remove the water.
Check the number of shelves and shelve positions, most fridges have adjustable shelves which can be repositioned to suit what you store. Removable shelves will make cleaning easier.
Some fridges include drawers for storing vegetables etc. OK if you want to store these but not very practical if you want to store cans of drink.
Most fridges incorporate storage in the door.
Check the height for bottle storage, too short and you won't fit some bottles, too tall and you waste room.
Eggs and butter storage - if you are not going to use them make sure they are removable otherwise you won't be able to use the space.
Freezers may have shelves only, storage baskets or drawers - or a mixture.
Fixed shelves can make storage awkward; you need to pull things out to get at what is stored behind.
Storage baskets make life easier; you can pull them out so you can see what you have.
Runners which support the drawer all the way out really make access easy.

Defrost options

Freezers offer either Manual or Automatic (Frost Free) or defrosting options.
Manual defrost fridges cost less to buy and operate but should be defrosted at least once a year. Automatic are more expensive and also tend to cost slightly more to run but do remove the chore of manual defrosting.
An alternative to Frost Free feature is auto frost. This automatically regulates the temperature in your fridge freezer to prevent frost build up meaning that you should never get unwanted ice again!
It's no longer a choice of white, white or white with manufacturers now selling their appliances in a range of colours from beige to black or stainless steel. The FAB range of retro fridge freezers from Smeg now comes in a choice of 11 colours - the latest colour being lime green. You can even buy the fridge version in a union jack design!
But remember check out the external colour and type of surface. You'll want the colour to match the kitchen and you will need an easy to clean surface.

The star-rating system (from 1 star* to 4 stars **** ) tells you what it can freeze and for how long. The more stars, the colder the freezer and the longer frozen food can be safely stored. 4-star freezers are the most powerful and the type to go for if you want to freeze fresh food.
Most fridge freezers will be three or four stars which means that the majority of foods can be frozen and safely stored for up to twelve months. Lower star ratings are usually applicable to ice boxes rather than freezers meaning than food can only be safely frozen for ** = one month and * = one week.

The star-rating system

Star rating Freezer temperature Food storage
**** -18°C or colder Can freeze fresh food, and store food for three to 12 months
*** -18°C Stores pre-frozen food for 3 to 12 months
** -12°C Stores pre-frozen food for up to a month
* -6°C Stores pre-frozen food for up to a week

Energy Efficiency

Classification Evaluation
A Optimum
B Excellent
C Very good
D Good
E Average
F Mediocre
G Poor
By UK law, the European Union (EU) energy efficiency label must be shown on the packaging of all fridge freezers.
Fridge freezers are rated "A-G" according to their energy efficiency. "A" is the best and will save you money on your electricity bill. Their running costs are very often given in "kilowatts per year"; a useful guideline when comparing models in the shop.
Efficiency is improving all the time so newer models are generally more efficient and therefore use less energy.
You may also find an 'energy efficiency recommended label' for products which use less energy thus reducing your bills and the impact on the environment.

CFC gas used to be the most common cooling agent in all refrigeration products but it is no longer used since leaks are harmful to the ozone layer.
All refrigerators are now CFC free and an increasing number of manufacturers are using natural gases as cooling agents such as Isobutene (R600A). Natural gases are better from an environmental point of view since they have no harmful effects on either the ozone layer or on global warming.

How long should it last?

Although fridge freezers often have along life span (up to 20 years) the older the model the less efficient and cost effective it will be to use.

Interior Tips : Kitchen & Bathroom

● If your kitchen is small (or any room for that matter) use light colors: off white, beige etc. but you can accent the room with bright colors if you like to brighten up your kitchen. Dark colors will make a room look smaller than it's actual size.

● The kitchen sink, cooking stove and the refrigerator should form a work triangle where the total distance of the three stations is no more than 26 feet. The three stations should be close enough for convenience when preparing food.

● Avoid dark colored tiles on shower areas of bathrooms and kitchen counters. Although black or royal blue may look stunning, soap residue can easily be seen and is difficult to clean when hardened. Unless you have a helper to clean the bathroom right after you shower, it is better to use light colored tiles on the shower area.

● Like any other room, if your bathroom is too small use a large mirror on top of the sink or the wall - it will make the bathroom size look bigger.

● You can also place a mirror in the kitchen. A good place is where it reflects a nice cupboard or even opposite the window blinds, it will not only make the room larger but it will reflect the light and brighten the room.

●  Put small indoor plants on small pots in your kitchen and bathroom. Plants gives a fresh feeling to the interior design of the kitchen and bathroom.

● Don't be limited to stainless steel sinks, drawer handles, frames and pans, use copper, chrome, wrought iron, tin, brass and platinum. They will make your kitchen or bathroom more interesting.

● If you have shelves to spare, put cookbooks, small indoor plants and other accessories to make your kitchen more appealing.

● During holidays change the look of your kitchen by putting themed table cloth and chair slipcovers to cheer up the room.

● Always make sure that there is adequate lighting on bathrooms and kitchen. Inadequate lighting makes the kitchen & bathroom feel cramped and gloomy. Aside from the general lighting fixture at the center of the room. Put task lights under the kitchen hanging cabinets. In the bathroom, put wall lights on either sides of the vanity mirror. The classic style of placing small wall lamps on both sides of the mirror gives your bathroom a charming and elegant look.

Bathroom interior design can be fun. If your bathroom is big enough, you can decorate it with some framed pictures or artwork. Just make sure that it is not affected by moisture. Pictures or artwork makes the bathroom more interesting. Also put some scented candles, soaps and flowers. They are always a welcome add on -specially to your visitors.

Interior tips : Bedroom

● When interior designing your bedrooms, make sure the rooms are cozy and restful in appearance. Avoid bright colors like orange. Bright colors won't induce you to sleep. Neutral, warm colors, pastels and earth colors are best suited for walls, ceiling and bedroom furniture.

● If you are starting your interiors from scratch, you can start by choosing fabrics first and base the color of you wall from it, then you can select furniture that compliments the color of walls and the fabrics that you are going to use.

● Save on expensive wall decor, go through magazines, art books or even your child's art work at school and have the picture framed. Not only will you save, you will have a unique picture that is not found on commercial home decor stores.

● One third of your life is spent on your bed. Invest in a good mattress, pillows and cotton or linen sheets -they absorb perspiration better and let air "breath".

● Consider an extra cabinet or storage space inside your bedroom or den, they are areas that usually invite clutter. It is important to always have your room neat and clutter free.

● Use warm flooring on bedroom floors like wood and carpet. Don't use ceramic tiles, marble or granite on bedroom floors. It is not pleasant to get out of bed in the morning and step on a cold floor. If a cold flooring material is already installed, put an area rug beside the bed.

● If you can, use the same fabric, design and color of the bedcovers as with the curtains. The room will have that "Interior Designed" look.

● If you want to be one with nature as the look you want for your bedroom, go with woven wood shades. These are made from renewable resources like jutes, bamboos, reeds and rattan. Cool, cozy and "green" look is achieved!

● If your room is small, use mirrors on the walls. It gives the room an illusion of space (If you are a Feng Shui believer, see the tips on mirrors).

● For bedrooms and specially dens where people tend to smoke, put an exhaust fan on the ceiling or wall farthest from the window. It will suck-in the cold air outside and keep the air inside the room fresh and cool. This can even save you electricity bills by not using your air conditioner during cool months.

● Some of us wants our bedrooms to be dark even late in the day specially when we sleep late. Thus some of us put up very dark curtains.  Deep colored curtains against a light colored wall comes very strong. It is better to have your walls a shade darker and the curtain a little lighter to lessen the contrast. An alternative is to use two layered curtains instead one that is very dark.

● Aside from the typical center light on the middle of the ceiling, use lampshades, pin lights and up lights for mood lighting. These type of lighting gives dark and light patterns of light in the room.

● The bedroom is your private space, among all rooms in your home, your bedroom's look and atmosphere should be the most relaxing and reflective of your personal taste and style.

Living & Dining Room Area Tips

● In interior design, a focal point is important in every room. It could be a large window or painting or an interesting art piece. In your living room, arrange your furniture around a focal point. Put your biggest piece of furniture first (like the sofa) then continue with the smaller pieces of furniture down to your accent pieces.

● Consider the size of your living room when you buy the furniture. Don't buy over sized pieces if your room is not that big. It will make your room smaller and cramped. And also don't buy tall furniture if your
ceiling is low, they will make the ceiling appear lower. Visit websites for ideas.

● Also, the type, color and style of your flooring material should be considered in relation to the design style and size of the room. If the room is quite small, do not choose flooring with big bold
designs as it will make the room smaller. Consider porcelain tile type flooring, hard woods and heavy duty types for living rooms and dining rooms if you expect heavy traffic on these areas.

● If you plan to put several
picture frames on the walls. it is a good idea to group them together by theme and arrange them inside an imaginary frame. They can be the focal point of the room.

● Before you buy you dining room set, take a good look at your space. Be sure that there is ample room to walk around the dining set even if all the seats are occupied. Interior design has a lot to do with ergonometrics, not just appearance.

● If your living and dining area is on the same room, you may use a different flooring material on the dining area to delineate the  space from the living area. Or you may put an area rug on your dining area for definition. A free standing screen is another good option.

● Avoid using fluorescent (white) lighting in the living and dining areas. Food looks more inviting under incandescent (yellow) light  and people's complexion too look better under yellow light. But if you really like to use fluorescent light, combine both white & yellow light at the same time.

● If you plan to put a chandelier above your dinning table, don't put it up so high. Lower it 3 to 4 feet from the table top.

● Aside from your direct light source above the dining table (a chandelier for example), add some pin lights around the room and a dimmer switch to make your surroundings more pleasing to the eye. Do the same with your living room.

● It is okay to put family pictures on the living room but don't put so many, specially school diplomas and trophies. They are better put in your bedroom.

Interior Design Tips

General Interior Design Tips

● If you just bought a new house and will start decorating, keep the walls simple and majority of the walls plain

● If you are buying new furniture, measure your room and the furniture. Scale the room & furniture on cutout newspaper: 1 feet = 1 inch and see if the furniture are proportionate to the room. Make sure there are ample spaces to walk around your furniture.

● Feel free to mix and match different styles of stuff, like contemporary furniture with oriental pieces. Just don't over do it. Make sure they blend together.

● One way to beautify a room even if the walls are plain white is by putting moldings or cornice on the ceiling edge and baseboards.

● If you want to make a room look bigger, use mirrors. They give an illusion of more space. Colors too affect the illusion of space. A monochromatic color scheme (one/similar color with different shades) like off whites, cream & beige will give you an appearance of more space while warm colors like deep red, will give an impression of a smaller space. On the other hand cool colors like sky blue and light green will give an openness appearance.

● When choosing a new color for a wall, paint a section of the wall and observe it for a few days at different times. It is a good idea to paint one shade lighter than your sample swatch. Almost always, the color on your sample will look brighter on a big wall than on a small swatch.

● Don't use gloss paint on ceilings, they will show imperfections specially at night when you open the lights.

● It is advised that you don't use strong colors on areas that you frequently use. But you can be more daring with colors on hallways and staircases where you just pass by and don't really stay as often like your bedroom.

Install your picture frames on eye level, putting them high on the wall makes your ceiling seem lower. Aside from the fact that people will have to gaze up to look at your picture.

● If your floor is made of concrete, tiles or any stone material, put area rugs to make your room cozy and rotate your rug /carpet once in a while to even out the wear and tear.

● Use inexpensive garden pots as indoor planter by painting and decorating them.

● Your garden affects a great deal in beautifying your home but be cautious with big plants, shrubs and trees. They can be hiding places for burglars.

● It is also a good idea to put gravel near windows so you (or your dog) can hear if somebody is trying to peek inside.

● Lights are deterrent to thieves. Light your house exterior more than the inside of your house when going to bed.

● The overall look of your home is paramount. From your furniture, wall colors, to lighting fixtures, everything should be proportional, balanced and harmonious. A small and delicately carved side table may be beautiful as a piece of furniture but it may not blend well next to a bulky and oversized living room set. Always consider other elements in a room when choosing your furniture, drapes, etc. Ask yourself it is the right size & scale, color and style. If the answer is yes, go ahead and trust your instincts.

● Your home should reflect your personality. You can hire an interior designer or decorator, but in the end it should be you and your family's character that should reflect in your home. Go along only with suggestions that is pleasing to you. Remember that a beautiful home is a home that is beautiful to it's owner.

Tips On Office Furniture Selection

With all the current trends and styles in commercial office furniture, having your office fitted with new furniture may seem like an overwhelming task.  A great amount of thought and consideration must be placed into selecting the most appropriate office furniture and fixtures for your office space.  Having the right office furniture can reap various rewards including an enjoyable work atmosphere, increased employee productivity and even health benefits.

Your office fit out can also help create a good and lasting first impression.  How you would like your clients and partners to perceive your business may be portrayed through its decor.  Office furniture with sleek lines and basic colours speak professionalism while more modern pieces portray creativity.

Without a doubt, selecting the right office furniture is a job that can’t be overlooked.  Here are some tips to help you find the office furniture you need for your business.

1.  Know your budget
How much are you willing to spend for office furniture?  There is a wide range of office furniture available with varying prices.  But take note that high quality office furniture does not come cheap.  Be ready to allocate a considerable part of your budget to invest in high quality office furniture.  This actually enables you to save in the long run as quality office furniture will not need replacing or repair for years.

2.  Study your office space
When furnishing your office, the office area is an important concern.  Do you have a large or a small professional space?  Larger office space may have more room for storage areas separate from workstations while smaller spaces must aim for slim, minimalistic and multi-functional pieces that maximise the space available.  How many meeting rooms do you have?  These will need to be fitted with appropriate boardroom tables and chairs.

Does your business require you to receive clients in your office?  In this case, you will need to have an area fitted with client seating.   Does your office space allow for a pantry or recreational area for employees?  Furniture for client and recreational areas may be contemporary office furniture that includes sofas, cafe chairs and stools.

3.  Set time restrictions
When installing new office furniture, it’s important to keep business operations running and employee productivity high.  How much time can you spare for the set-up of new furnishings?  Do you have a weekend for the job or do you need it to be set-up after work hours?  If you have limited time for set-up, then choose office furniture and fixtures that are easily and straightforwardly installed.

4.  Consider your industry
As mentioned previously, your office decor can speak volumes about your business.  Consider the industry your business is in.  Are you in the finance industry as a consulting company?  Then perhaps your office space merits a more traditional look.  Are you in the publishing or advertising industry as a fashion magazine publisher?  Then perhaps your office furniture can be more contemporary to reflect a creative feel.  Your office’s aesthetics needs to reflect the nature of your business.

5.  Pay attention to office chairs
Many employees nowadays are spending more time at the office, working longer hours.  Spending hours seated can be tiresome especially if they are sitting on an office chair that does not offer the proper support.  Pay close attention to selecting quality office chairs that offer comfort and proper support to their backs and arms.  Having the appropriate office chair will help avoid any health problems and discomfort from back strains and also enables your employees to work at their best.

6.  Consider the lights
Lighting is another important factor that must be considered when installing new office furnishings.  Make sure that the work area is well lit and that the lighting is not harsh on the eyes.  Professional lighting consultants are available to help you with fixture arrangements and wattage output concerns.

7.  Consult your employees
If you are still unsure of what office furniture to get for your business space, it would be helpful to ask your employees.  Remember, these are the people who spend hours in the office so their input will be very important.  Ask them what they are looking for in an office chair or what type of storage system they need.  When you are able to provide office furniture that supports a healthy and productive work environment, you can rely on the best possible performance from your employees.

Some Final Words

There are various trends in office fit outs and office furniture today.  To know which one is the most appropriate for your business, it will be helpful to consult with a professional and experienced office fit out provider.
