Kitchen Furniture

There are a variety of styles to choose from when considering kitchen furniture for your home. From traditional to country to modern, a kitchen can be made to feel like the center of your home with the right furnishings.

Depending on the size of your kitchen, you may want to consider a kitchen table and chairs. Families in countries all over the world seem to enjoy gathering in the kitchen at the kitchen table. A sturdy and well made table and chairs set can bring the family together at meal time or for a casual gathering of friends. This is also true of a kitchen bar with barstools which can be freestanding or built into the kitchen depending on your particular needs. Again the idea is to keep families and/or friends together in what is often the warmest, coziest place in the home. I have friends who even designed their remodeled kitchen around the antique Oak table and chairs they found during a trip to the country.

Other kitchen furniture options are things such as bakers racks ( used for baking goods, dishes, bowls of fruit, flower arrangements, what have you), microwave tables with storage drawers, curio cabinets for displays of colorful dishware and mixing bowls, and even window seats or benches which can be used for additional storage or as seating when guests are gathering in the kitchen for coffee or drinks.

A cozy, inviting kitchen is not complete without some type of kitchen furniture. Again, the kitchen table is probably the greatest addition one can purchase for the kitchen, whether it is rustic, Early American or Contemporary. Once a table and chairs are added to the kitchen, it won’t take long before friends and family begin to gather there for various occasions. With the wonderful aromas steaming from the stove or over, nothing is better than sipping a cup of tea or a cool drink and chatting while waiting for dinner to cook. However, one of my favorite pieces of furniture in the kitchen is a white wooden bookcase to hold all of my cookbooks and a collection of antique kitchen gadgets like rolling pins, graters, hand mixers and reamers. On the kitchen table is a large vase of colorful sunflowers and a big bowl of fruit. And of course, there is a ceramic jar full of cookies for the grandkids when they visit.

Kitchen furniture adds so much ambience to the home in general and makes this most important room of the house stand out and be used for more than just cooking. Whether you just want to add a chair or two, or you want to furnish the kitchen just as you would any other room, an improvement will be made when you decide to take on this project. You will be happy you did!
